Stone Cold Gaze

I published this photo on my Facebook page several weeks back. It’s from a granite angel grave marker I seem to keep rephotographing because that cherubic face and those eyes entombed within the texture of the granite somehow draws me back again and again.

Rest in Peace

It’s so very sad
For the frivolous lad
Who dances through life,
Seeking pleasure.
His desires make him mad
And his choices are bad,
He soon forfeits his soul
For his treasure.

In the Silent Garden

Princess Leia, is that You?

“This is a war we know how to win. Keep fighting until you can no longer fight, then exhaust the enemy chasing you, and turn and fight some more. Keep fighting. I promise you, we will prevail.” ―Leia Organa Solo, to the citizens of Coruscant

When I first saw this grave ornament from a distance in Orlando’s Greenwood Cemetery, there was a subconscious flicker of recognition and a fraction of a second of mental processing that went something like this:
“Who is that? She’s got bun-like things on each side of her head… which means it could only be… Princess Leia? What Star Wars uber-fanatic is buried here? Oh… it’s flowers.”

Soft as Stone

“I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set it free.” –Michelangelo

Wow, I’m really overdue in putting up a new blog post! Time has been in too short supply these last few weeks, as I’ve had to choose to focus on some other things. I have a backlog of photos for at least six or seven posts, so I’ll try to get some of those up with some regularity over the next week or so. I’ll start with this one; I hope you like it.
