I have held back on adding new photos to my series “A Grave Image” these last few months, recognizing my fascination with grave decorations and ornaments isn’t shared by many. However, I’m pleased with my latest capture and so decided to resurrect the series to share this photo. Someone painted her forearms long ago—too dark for her face. I find this incongruence adds to her intrigue and the individuality she retains in this resting place of angels.

They are our modern day “sacred sights”, Maggie. Regardless of one’s beliefs or position in life, we can find commonality in our ability to grieve. Grave decorations and monuments have always struck me more as expressions of grief rather than ornaments. Thanks for your comment, and I appreciate your shared enthusiasm for this subject! ❤
