Portraits Can Tell a Story

“A child is a person who can’t understand why someone would give away a perfectly good kitten.”
– Doug Larson

The story told by a portrait may be about the relationship between photographer and subject, but it’s a story nonetheless. Sometimes you just have to take what you can get. 😄

Innocent Eyes

"Children make you want to start life over."
— Muhammad Ali

I marvel at the way an infant can observe the world around them as new and wonderful and even the most simple pleasure as play. I would gain much from the opportunity to have an infant guide me in relearning this skill, though I would never wish to be a parent to anything more complicated than a cat.

Baby Lydia

“The only creatures that are evolved enough to convey pure love are dogs and infants.”
― Johnny Depp

I had the good fortune of photographing beautiful 6-month old Lydia at the park yesterday. It was a fun session, as Lydia is a very expressive little girl with a wonderful demeanor. Thanks to Jenna and Jon for providing me the opportunity to photograph their darling daughter.

A Magical Smile

There is something magical about a child’s smile. That smile is able to convey simple fascination and the ability to wonder at things in the world that we adults have ceased to recognize as anything more than mundane. We should lament having lost so much, having become so callused by life that we can’t see all the reasons to smile and find joy in simply being.
