This photo is a response to the Weekly Photo Challenge “texture” theme presented by the folks at The Daily Post. Cat fur (that still attached to a cat, specifically) is one of my favorite soft textures. I hope you like the photo.

Hi, Takami! This kitty’s name is Ella. Ella is very curious about things, though she is also quite wary of strangers and anything new and is thus a real challenge to photograph. She is a medium-hair “tortie” (tortoise shell) – basically a calico without any white fur; what appears to be white in the B&W photo is in actuality a very pale orange. It’s rare to find a tortie that is male; they are almost always female. Thanks for your comment and I’m glad you enjoyed the photo.

Hello again Earl! Thank you for clarifying about this kitty (and Ella is such a pretty name). I also learned something new, because I was embarrassingly unaware about torties. I get the feeling she was looking directly into the lens, and into the heart of the photographer 🙂

🙂 I managed to captivate her with the flash, Takami. It wasn’t easy; she’s a stubborn thing! LOL And now when you see a tortie, you’ll be able to win a bet on whether it’s a male or female almost every time. 🙂
