Most of my readers are probably already familiar with the famous words of Helen Keller quoted above. It is my assertion that her statement is but a half-truth, omitting even a mention of the doors of sadness that line the corridors of our lives and behave in like manner. If it were not for sadness, I could not know happiness; if it were not for happiness, I could not know I was sad.

I’ve heard of Helen Keller’s quote, but I like how you added the second half truth 🙂
I think this image is perfect in b&w – I have mixed emotions: do I want to open the door and see what’s inside, or, am I fearing the unknown and therefore prefer to leave it closed…?

Converting this image to black-and-white was actually a last-minute decision, Takami. The black-and-white allowed me to convey a mood that wasn’t present in the color image. It was a mood I liked, so I went with it. 🙂
