Street Portrait: Dirk

I’m getting more and more comfortable with approaching complete strangers on the street and asking to take their photos. Dirk was hanging out in the shade by his bike, cooling off in the near 100-degree heat when I approached and asked to take his photo. It’s so interesting to me how the best poses come when you ask someone to “just be yourself”.

  1. Nice to see someone getting comfortable with approaching strangers and taking great portraits of them. I’m trying to become more comfortable too. That’s the only way to take great street photos. Good luck!

    1. It definitely gets easier the more you do it. And I am finding that people rarely reject a sincerely delivered request. I shot four people over the course of an hour-long walk in the park yesterday.
